Being active and socializing are some of the most important things you can do for yourself at any age.
Did you know that socializing improves the cognitive function in your brain, which helps lower your risk for depression and dementia? It keeps your mind active, and helps overall mental and emotional well-being.
Social activities can help you build a support system, which is the most important of all. The peace of mind you get can help better eating and sleeping habits.
Beyond that, most social relationships lead to more physical activity.
Physical activity (just 2.5 hours a week) can lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer. It improves your mental health by boosting your mood, improving your ability to think and learn, and helping you feel better about yourself. Consistent physical activity improves your strength and balance, which will help you stay active!
There really are only positives to socializing and staying active no matter what age you are. At Quail Ridge, we prioritize these two things for both our residents and our staff!
